5 reasons why you should find more time to read

Reading a great book can be magical.
There’s nothing better than losing yourself in another world so different from your own.
However sometimes life gets in the way.
Before you know it, you have eight unfinished books piled up on your desk.
This is where I come in!
For National Book Lover’s day, I’m going to list five reasons why you should find more time to read and hear me out…
Spend less time binging box sets on Netflix.
Sorry, not sorry.
1 – It can reduce stress
Whatever is going on in your personal life no longer matters. You are now in the world of your book.
Fiction is perfect for escapism and the best thing about it – you can choose your own poison.
Whether you pick a crime novel, horror or fantasy, you are now in a different dimension.
2 – It can improve your memory
If you’re anything like me – you have the memory of a fish.
Learning about characters’ backgrounds, their past relationships and even small things like their ambitions can help boost your memory – it might even help you spend less time looking for where you put your keys in the morning...
But I can’t promise anything.
3 – It improves your focus
Believe it or not, losing yourself in a book can improve your concentration and has been said to benefit people in the workplace.
Try reading for 20 minutes before you leave and see how much your focus improves!
It’s worth a shot, eh?
4 – It can be completely free
If you don’t have a library card, get one.
You can read anything you want (as long as you return the book of course) for free!
This can also help if you’re struggling to find your genre.
Try different books out and see what works for you.
What’s not to like about having your own free entertainment?
5 – It improves your own writing skills
You don’t have to be an aspiring writer to want to improve your writing skills.
Better writing can benefit you in everyday life.
Such as sending work emails, writing a Cover Letter for your dream job or even typing up a savvy Facebook status.
You know what I’m talking about – especially with the social media gramma police lurking about.
So not only are you being entertained – you’re building on your skills!
These five reasons are just the beginning of why you should spend more time reading!
Put that Netflix episode on pause and start picking up books from that pile on your desk!
